Ranger district will remove vegetation, conduct controlled burn from Tuesday through Thursday
Eastbound State Route 260 will be reduced to one lane 25 miles east of Payson from Tuesday, Sept. 13, through Thursday, Sept. 15, while the Tonto National Forest takes steps to prevent forest fires, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The restriction, involving the eastbound right lane between Christopher Creek and Forest Lakes (milepost 277 to 282), will be in place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Crews from the Tonto Ranger District will first cut and remove vegetation, followed by a controlled burn planned for Thursday.
Heavy smoke and reduced visibility are possible along SR 260 during the controlled burn.
