Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney and the Queen Creek Town Council recognized Darcy Small and Joe and Laura Kolnick as Great Neighbors at the Sept. 21 council meeting.
Ms. Small was nominated by Beth Winterquist and the Kolnicks were nominated by Kelly Segerstrom.
”When asked what makes Queen Creek special, my first response is always the people,” Mayor Barney said in a press release. “Darcy, Joe and Laura are all examples of the great people we have here in Queen Creek, making this a wonderful community. Thank you for being great neighbors.”
Mrs. Winterquist met Mrs. Small when she was new to the community. She was impressed with how friendly and helpful Mrs. Small was.
“She gave me her phone number, invited my girls to a painting party with a bunch of Queen Creek Elementary (School) girls the next day, followed by a pizza/pool party at her house. She greets everyone she meets like this and is just an all-around awesome person and friend,” Mrs. Winterquist wrote in her nomination about Mrs. Small.
Mrs. Segerstrom nominated the Kolnicks for their ongoing support of the community through their local business, Cold Stone Creamery.
“At any time I can contact Joe and Laura to help out, gather kids or promote some type of positivity in my life. I nominate both Joe and Laura Kolnick for being outstanding people and neighbors,” she wrote about the couple in her nomination.
The Great Neighbor program is designed to recognize residents who go out of their way to improve and enhance the quality of life in the community.
