The town of Queen Creek partnered with Rio Salado at the Communiversity at Queen Creek to offer a certificate in public administration. Twelve employees recently completed the certificate program, according to a press release.
A certificate in public administration was presented to the following Queen Creek employees: Elizabeth Martin and Alisha Noble, development services department; Myrna Quihuis, finance department; Micah Thompson, fire and medical department; Janet Kawczynski, Tony Garcia and Vinny Mauro, public works department; Jose Fernandez and Miriam Cantu, utilities department; and Kim Clark, Lindsay Kirkpatrick and Terry Diamond, workforce and technology department.
“This is a unique partnership with a community organization providing an opportunity for professional development,” Queen Creek Town Manager John Kross said in the release. “We are fortunate to have the Communiversity at Queen Creek offering a variety of educational opportunities right here in town. Through this partnership, our town employees gained access to additional training and education, which will help further their ability to serve the residents and businesses of Queen Creek.”
The certificate program includes six online courses covering public policy, finance, human resources, organizational behavior, economics and American national government.
Eligible employees include full-time staff who have completed his or her trial period with the town.
The program takes approximately 14 months to complete and must be completed during non-work hours.
“We’re always excited to offer opportunities that benefit both our staff and our residents while being cost-effective,” Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney said. “I applaud our employees who made the commitment to complete the program. Congratulations on your accomplishment.”
A second group of town employees are currently completing the certificate in public administration program.
