Harkins Theatres has announced the grand opening for its newest movie multiplex. The 14-screen theater will open at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in the Queen Creek Marketplace, on the southwest corner of Rittenhouse and Ellsworth roads.
The opening will take place two days ahead of the earlier March 21 date projected in September by Whitney Murrey, the theater chain’s director of marketing, in a phone interview Sept. 24.
Ms. Murrey said Feb. 25 that the theater chain would not be releasing additional information about the opening until around March 3.
In addition, details about the grand opening events and ribbon-cutting festivities will be ava
ilable on the theater chain’s Facebook page at http://www.harkinstheatres.com/queencreek.aspx.
Harkins Theatres broke ground on the new building Feb. 15. Dan Harkins, the company’s owner, said at the ceremony the building would be almost 64,000 square feet in size. It will include state-of-the-art multi-digital sound and one of six play centers in the chain. Its concession area will feature 135 offerings including White Castle hamburgers and Freschetta pizza, he said.
