Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney recently signed a proclamation declaring the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the community.
Queen Creek is joining cities and towns across the valley in Lighting Arizona Purple, an effort to help end domestic violence. Throughout the month of October, select lights at the Queen Creek Town Hall, 22350 S. Ellsworth Road, will be purple to raise awareness of this important issue.
“Domestic violence is a serious problem that is harmful not only to individuals and families, but to our entire community,” said Mayor Barney in a press release. “According to the Arizona Coalition to End Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, there were 107 domestic violence related fatalities in Arizona. Our goal is to bring awareness to an issue that has an untold number of victims, and share with those impacted by domestic abuse that support is available.”
