A construction worker finishes one of the front doors leading into the Cafe Rio Mexican Grill in the QC District, 21293 S. Ellsworth Loop Road. The 2,900-square-foot eatery will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Those in attendance will receive a voucher good for one free meal and drink, according to an event flier. The voucher expires Aug. 31.

The restaurant’s slogan is “fresh food, made fresh,” because nothing is premade, according to its website. The Cafe Rio chain has 85 locations. The Queen Creek location will employ 30-35 people.

Cafe Rio is one of several businesses to have opened this past month in the QC District shopping center. Mattress Firm opened Aug. 12 and Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop open in July, while HomeGoods held its ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 21.
