Members of the San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce board of directors revealed the new organization’s name during a mixer held June 12 at Encanterra Country Club, 36460 N. Encanterra Drive in San Tan Valley.

Until recently, the community had been served by two chambers — the San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Greater San Tan Chamber of Commerce.

However, on May 15, the two officially merged and an e-mail was sent to the unified chamber’s 320 members asking them to vote on an official name from suggestions supplied by the board, Angela Smith, the chamber’s executive director, said during an interview at the mixer.

The chamber received 187 responses to the e-mail; of those, 78 voted for the winning name, Ms. Smith said.

The chamber will next host a general membership luncheon. It will take place noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at Central Arizona College San Tan Campus, room A100, 3736 E. Bella Vista Road in San Tan Valley.
