Improvement projects will require closures or other restrictions along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (May 13-16). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends planning ahead and considering alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:

  • Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Shea Boulevard and Via de Ventura in Scottsdale area from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 16) for rubberized asphalt paving. Southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Cactus Road closed. Use alternate routes to avoid heaviest traffic delays. Alternate freeways include southbound SR 51 or I-17. Allow extra travel time. Southbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at Shea Boulevard can detour to southbound Hayden Road and use eastbound Via de Ventura to connect with Loop 101. Northbound Loop 101 HOV lane closed between McDonald Drive and Mountain View Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday (May 14) for freeway lighting work.
  • Westbound Interstate 10 closed at Dysart Road (west of Loop 101) from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (May 14) for installation of overhead message sign and equipment. Westbound I-10 on-ramps at Dysart Road and Avondale Boulevard also closed. Consider alternate routes away from primary detour route to avoid heaviest traffic delays. Westbound I-10 traffic can detour along westbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street and use Litchfield Road to connect with I-10.
  • Westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound Loop 303 in Goodyear closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 16) for interchange construction. Drivers can exit at Sarival Avenue and use westbound McDowell Road and northbound Cotton Lane to access northbound Loop 303.
  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) ramp to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Tempe closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday (May 15) for paving. Eastbound US 60 on-ramp at McClintock Drive also closed. Alternate routes include northbound McClintock Drive or Dobson Road to Southern Avenue to connect with northbound Loop 101.
  • Northbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Camelback and Bethany Home roads from 4 a.m. to noon Saturday (May 14) for overhead message sign work. Allow extra travel time and use caution.
  • Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) temporarily closed in both directions (up to 20 minutes each time) between 75th Avenue and Union Hills Drive from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday (May 15) for Cox Communications utility work. Freeway ramps in area also closed. Be prepared for slowing or stopped traffic. Use caution while DPS troopers slow traffic as needed.
  • Northbound Interstate 17 rolling closures will occur at times overnight near Jomax and Pioneer roads from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday (May 15) for overhead message board work. Use caution while DPS troopers slow traffic as needed. Expect overnight restrictions lasting up to 30 minutes.
  • Northbound Loop 303 off-ramp at El Mirage Road closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday (May 14) for construction. Consider alternate routes, including exiting northbound Loop 303 at Happy Valley Parkway and turning to use southbound Loop 303 on-ramp to travel south to El Mirage Road exit.

Reminder: Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather.
