Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at a business Saturday, May 28, and at two cemeteries on Monday, May 30, to remember all those who have gone on before us, especially those who served in our military.

East Valley residents are invited to attend.

They are:

•10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, Memorial Day Remembrance at the food court at Mesa Market Place Swap Meet, 10550 E. Baseline Road. Chapter 1011 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will present the American flag and will also honor veterans in the audience by presenting flags for the five branches of the armed forces. The Needham Twins will sing the national anthem and other patriotic favorites. There will be face-painters and balloon magicians to entertain young and old from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Before and after the remembrance, adults and children are invited to write notes and color pictures to go into Packages From Home care packages. The organization sends care packages to military personnel serving in the Middle East and includes a personal note or picture in it. The Jewish War Veterans Copper State Post 619 will participate at the event. For more information, call 480-380-5572 or go to its website.

•9-11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery 7900 E. Main St. (Apache Trail) in Mesa. It will include a military flyover and a dove release as well as a Memorial Day service conducted by local fraternal organizations. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. Chairs and tents will be provided for shade. Hats, umbrellas, sunscreen and water are recommended.

•9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Mariposa Gardens chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Road in Mesa (southwest corner of Power and Broadway roads). Refreshments will be served following the service in the hospitality center. A Red Cross community blood drive at the bloodmobile will be noon-4 p.m. for all of those who would like to donate blood in honor of a loved one.
