Many weekend closures on Valley freeways

Freeway-improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (July 31-Aug. 3). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

 

  • East- and southbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Recker and Broadway roads in east Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 3) for widening project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Loop 202 traffic exiting at Recker Road can detour to southbound Power Road.

 

  • East- and southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to one lane in areas between Tatum and Shea boulevards from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for pavement-marker installation. North- and westbound Loop 101 also narrowed to one lane in areas between Shea and Tatum boulevards from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 2). DETOUR: Alternate routes include State Route 51. Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zones.

 

  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Rural Road and Loop 101 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for overhead sign work. Eastbound US 60 ramp to northbound Loop 101 closed. Eastbound on-ramp at McClintock Drive closed. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and allow extra travel time.

 

  • Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Country Club Drive and Loop 101 from 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 2) for overhead sign work. Westbound US 60 ramp to southbound Loop 101 closed. Westbound on-ramps at Alma School and Dobson roads closed. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes.

 

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Queen Creek Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for equipment work. Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Queen Creek Road and Wild Horse Pass Boulevard from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 2) for equipment work. Westbound on-ramp at Queen Creek Road closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.

 

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Loop 101 and Interstate 10 in Chandler from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for pavement repair. Eastbound Loop 202 narrowed to three lanes between I-10 and Loop 101 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

 

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Hawes and Gilbert roads from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 3) for pavement-marker installation. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

 

  • Central Avenue closed in both directions at Interstate 17 from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) for bridge work. DETOUR: Alternate routes include Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street.
