Restrictions on U.S. 60 and Red Mountain 202 this weekend

Freeway-improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (Aug. 28-31). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

 

  • Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Greenfield and McDowell roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 11:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 30) for widening project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include EB McDowell Rd. Please allow extra travel time.

 

  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Gilbert Road and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 29) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes.

 

  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane in areas between Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) and Tomahawk Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 30) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes.

 

  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Tomahawk and Mountain View roads from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 31) for lane-marker installation. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes.

 

  • McKellips Road closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) from 5 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 30) for widening project. DETOUR: Alternate routes include Country Club Drive and Alma School Road.

 

  • Eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Cave Creek Road restricted with no right turns to southbound Cave Creek Road from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 29-30) for Cox Communications utility work. Southbound Cave Creek Road right lane also closed between Rose Garden Lane and Loop 101 with no right turns to westbound Loop 101 on-ramp or frontage road. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound Deer Valley Road to southbound Seventh Street, to access westbound Loop 101.

 

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramps to Loop 101 (both north- and southbound) closed and westbound Loop 202 narrowed to three lanes between Dobson Road and Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 29) for barrier construction. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes to connect with Loop 101.

 

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) on-ramp at Dobson Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 30) for widening project. Westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Alma School Road closed from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 29) and westbound off- and on-ramps at Alma School Road closed from 8 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 31) for widening project. DETOUR: Please use other nearby ramps.
