Over the next several days, a couple of low pressure troughs will influence the weather in the Southwest, according to an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Maricopa County Dust Control Action Forecast.

A smaller wave centered over Nevada on Sunday, Oct. 18, was to give way to a much larger trough that will dig southward into northern Mexico as it passes through the region beginning Tuesday. The forecast model has this trough lingering over the Southwest through Friday.
“So far, this week’s best shot at storms and precipitation looks to be Tuesday. Otherwise, dry and calm weather is expected. By Tuesday, both upper-level winds and near-surface winds are expected to become light. This will result in more stagnant conditions for the rest of the week. No blowing dust is expected this week. Overall, the risk
for dust is low through this period,” M.Graves of ADEQ said in the Maricopa County Dust Control Action Forecast.
The forecast is issued to assist in the planning of work activities to help reduce dust pollution. A recorded message of the forecast can be accessed at 602-771-2368.
