The Ellsworth Elementary School Video Club toured ABC15 Tuesday, Jan. 15 in Phoenix.

The video club consists of 17 students with Ms. Lora Rael the librarian and Mrs. Suzana Battaglia, a technology teacher, facilitating the event, according to a press release.

Ray Telles, a photojournalist, took students to the set of “Sonoran Living Live,” where they met the two hosts and ask questions on what it takes to prepare for a career in newscasting.

Students had a chance to see all the lighting, cameras and technology, and talk with staff behind the scenes on what it takes to bring the news to life for the viewers.

Ellsworth students were at the news desk when breaking news came in and the helicopter was dispatched to the scene, a release states.

They also met Iris Hermosillo, meteorologist, who took them to the green screen, to see themselves on the television in the weather forecast as seen on TV.

After the Humane Society appeared on the 11 a.m. newscast, students were given the opportunity to meet and visit with the pet of the day.
