J.O. Combs Unified Basketball team plays first season

The J.O. Combs Special Education Department is announced a successful inaugural year with the first Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team. Unified Sports is a recognized Arizona Interscholastic Association sport. The team consists of “Athletes,” students with intellectual delays, and “Partners,” who are typically developing peers. The team has played five games, with the last home game, May 14 . at Combs High School. Coaches Kirk Fauske and Jette,Thompson, both serve as varsity basketball coaches at Combs High School. Tournament games were held on May 16, at Perry High school involving Florence, Higley, and Chandler teams.
