Meteorologist visits Circle Cross Ranch Elementary

Paul Horton, meteorologist for Channel 5 News, visited a fourth-grade class at Circle Cross Ranch K-8 S.T.E.M. Academy. He did a one-hour presentation about the weather and what it is like to be a meteorologist. The kids were able to learn about the wind in a hurricane and the water cycle. For the lesson on hurricanes, Mr. Horton used a leaf blower and talked about some weather conditions that meteorologists have to face in the field. Two students participated in an activity where they created a weather forecast for the news. He also took a short video of the students and used it on air that night.

“The Florence Unified School District prides itself on being a leader in the community when it comes to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Circle Cross Ranch K-8 S.T.E.M. Academy is doing a wonderful job implementing this program and giving our students the education needed for the 21st century.” FUSD superintendent Dr. Amy Fuller said.
