Poston Butte Explorers place 3rd in Chandler competition

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Explorer Program at Poston Butte High School competed Jan.15-17 in the 18th annual Chandler Tactical Competition. The 55 students from PBHS competed against students from Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington and Illinois. The competitions ranged from vehicle stops to robbery suspects to sniper rescue and hostage situation among others. PBHS students earned third place trophies for both Marijuana Operations and Hostage Rescue, according to a press release.

The Explorers meet every other Wednesday at PBHS and has members from San Tan Valley and Casa Grande.

“The Explorers at Poston Butte High School is a great program for our students interested in law enforcement. We are extremely proud of their accomplishment.” FUSD superintendent Dr. Amy Fuller said in the release.

The Queen Creek Independent is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
