Ranch Elementary students receive ukuleles

The third- and fourth-grade students at Ranch Elementary, 43521 N. Kenworthy Road in San Tan Valley, are being treated to a musical learning opportunity due to the donation of 40 ukuleles from the Kala Brand Music Company. A ukulele is an instrument that originated in Hawaii, has four strings and is played similarly to a guitar. Third- and fourth-grade students will begin learning many things about this instrument over the next month in their music class. Their ukulele lessons will include some history on the instrument, comparison between the ukulele and other string instruments they have previously learned about and how to play some simple songs. To show appreciation for this donation from Kala Brand Music Company, the students will be creating thank you cards in their music class.

The Queen Creek Independent is mailed each month to 35,000 homes.
