Fifth grade students at Combs Traditional Academy, 37327 N. Gantzel Road in San Tan Valley, will be participating in the Junior Achievement’s BizTown in Tempe on March 29.

BizTown curriculum provides students with both class learning, as well as a visit to the BizTown simulation, according to a press release. Students will be learning about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness skills.

During the in class lessons, students will learn about balancing checkbooks, budgeting, taxes, advertising, and work related skills and responsibilities.

At the simulated town, students will be given the opportunity to vote, deposit paychecks, work at their job, shop from other businesses, advertise for their business, and participate in activities related to the job they are hired for, a release states.

This opportunity, like other field trips, is funded through tax credit donations. School officials said the school and district appreciates community members who donate this credit to the schools. Up to $400 may be donated and all of it is credited back to the donor.
