Five years ago this week the top news stories for the Oct. 5, 2011, Queen Creek Independent, included: For the next six months the town of Gilbert will be providing fleet maintenance services for town of Queen Creek equipment including automobiles, heavy- and light-duty trucks, street sweepers and tractors. Through an intergovernmental agreement — at a cost not to exceed $160,000 — the Gilbert Fleet Services Department will provide, among other things, preventative maintenance services, emergency service needs, asset tracking and emissions testing, according to the Sept. 21 IGA.
