While many young girls are worried about homework and boys, two Queen Creek girls have a bigger mission on their mind: running a business.

In October 2018, Milla and Claudia Marie Fabirkiewicz started Mila Marie Bags with the help of their mom, Valerie Fabirkiewicz.

“These are design-yourself backpacks, everyday bags, evening bags and beach bags that allow the customer to customize their looks and then change it up depending on their mood or their outfit,” according to a release.

The two girls spend their hours after school designing new straps, accessories for the front, modeling for photos and packaging orders among other things necessary for the business.

“I want to give my girls the confidence to be able to run their own business in the future.  In order to do that, they have to be involved in the day-to-day,” Valerie Fabirkiewicz said in the release.

She came up with the original concept when going to a wedding six years ago and realizing her everyday bag was clashing with her cocktail dress, according to the release.

She wished there was a way to change the straps, so she began to create a prototype, according to the release.

Girls can design their own bag at mila-marie.com.

“I think it’s cool that my friends like the bags and when I go to dance, there are a bunch of them in the locker room that all look a little different since every girl can design their own,” Milla said in the release.

Today, the girls are the ones that are coming up ideas. Milla designed a backpack knowing that was what girls were carrying these days.

“Claudia has great ideas with photography to help grow their Instagram following.  Both of them research patterns for new straps and both of the girls are also the models for the bags,” according to the release.

The company has plans to grow and expand this year.  New designs are already on the way.  They also want to incorporate ways to offer straps that give proceeds to charities that are close to their hearts, according to the release.
