A preliminary plat for a Legado housing subdivision near the southwest corner of Sossaman and Queen Creek roads was approved Jan. 9 by the Queen Creek Planning and Zoning Commission.

The request by Brytanni Hewson of Hilgart Wilson is for 249 lots in phase I of the 119-acre Legado subdivision.

The subdivision will have a 1.7-acre lake, Steven Ester, planner I, said at the Jan. 9 commission meeting.

“In terms of the landscape plan, Legado has a pretty unique setup here. A change that occurred from the original (planned area development) was that a lake was added to the linear park feature, which is obviously a defining feature of this subdivision itself,” Mr. Ester said.

A 12-foot-wide, multi-use trail is to run along the southern bank of the Queen Creek Wash on the north side of the property. An 8-foot-wide path will run along Sossaman Road on the east side of the project, he said.

The commission voted unanimously to approve the preliminary plat. Commissioner Steve Sossaman abstained from voting.
