Ellsworth Road to close Dec. 3 for Queen Creek holiday parade

Presale wristband sales for carnival on sale through 3 p.m. today

The annual Queen Creek Holiday Festival and Parade will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.  The festivities will take on Ellsworth Road and at the Queen Creek Branch Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. Temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in place before and during the parade.

The parade will result in a full closure of Ellsworth Road from Sierra Park Boulevard to Ocotillo Road, including the intersection of Ellsworth Road and Ocotillo Road, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 3. Ellsworth Road will also be closed from Ocotillo Road to Maya Road from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Presented by the  Kiwanis Club of Queen Creek and the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by the town of Queen Creek, the 34th Annual Holiday Festival and Parade begins at noon with craft vendors, food vendors, a carnival, live entertainment, activities and pictures with Santa. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. and the tree lighting is at 6:15 p.m. The parade will begin at Sierra Park Boulevard and head north to Victoria Lane.

Presale wristbands are on sale through 3 p.m. today for the A Great Northern A’Fair carnival, the newest addition to the 34th Annual Queen Creek Holiday Festival and Parade.

The carnival will take place 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, and Friday, Dec. 2, and noon-10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the parking lot of the Queen Creek Branch Library, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road.

It will feature 10 rides, including Thea’s Zoo, Flying Pink Elephants, the Rip Saw, Ferris wheel and the Hammer, according to carnival owner Tim Mattfeldt.

The carnival also will have six to eight games and will sell cotton candy, candied apples and other concessions, Mr. Mattfeldt said.

Pre-sale wristbands for unlimited rides can be purchased for $20 through 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, 22246 S. Ellsworth Road. Wristbands can be purchased at the carnival for $30.

Individual ride tickets will be sold at the carnival for $1 each, $25 for 30 tickets and $50 for 60 tickets. Each ride requires two to four tickets, Mr. Mattfeldt said.
