Groundbreaking for Queen Creek Municipal Complex set for March 1

The Town of Queen Creek will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the new additions to the town’s municipal complex at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 1. The ceremony will be held in the dirt lot west of the Municipal Services Building, 22358 S. Ellsworth Road. The public is invited to attend.

The project will include a new Fire Station No. 411 for the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department that will replace the existing Town Center fire station, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road, and a public safety building that will include a community chambers for meeting and training purposes.

The need for a new, permanent Town Center fire station and public safety building was identified in both the 2015 Capital Improvements Program budget and the 2013 updated Municipal Master Plan, according to a press release.

“This council, and previous councils have been discussing the new buildings since 2004,” Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney said in the release. “It is exciting to be a part of this significant and strategic piece of the community’s future. As our community continues to grow, it is vital that we are positioned to provide the necessary services for our current and future residents.”

Preparation for construction, including earthwork and utilities, will begin in early March with actual construction beginning this summer. Fire Station No. 411 is expected to be complete in early 2017 and the public safety building is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2017.
