Free Health Care for Uninsured/Underinsured Children: The Banner Children’s Healthmobile will offer free health care for underinsured and uninsured children from birth to age 21 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays at Banner Ironwood Medical Center, 37000 N. Gantzel Road in San Tan Valley. The children do not need to live in San Tan Valley. Services include diagnosis and treatment of episodic illness, immunizations, referrals to appropriate specialty care (the cost of the specialty services are not covered by Banner school-based health centers), sports and camps physicals and well-child checks. Lunch Mob: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 25. Presented by the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce at a different member restaurant on the last Thursday of every month. This event will be a joint venture with the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and will be held at Famous Dave’s barbecue restaurant in the San Tan Village, 2206 E. Williams Field Road No. 101 in Gilbert. Grow Plants Like A Master Gardener: 9 a.m.-noon, Salt River Project, San Tan Valley Service Center, Eagle Conference Room, 3735 E. Combs Road. $120. The San Tan Valley Master Gardeners announce the 2016 fall schedule for the University of Arizona Garden and Landscape Course. You will learn the principles required to grow healthy plants that are adapted to the Sonoran Desert, acquire knowledge in how to correctly plant and grow those plants, insect control and landscape design. During the 16-week course there will be experienced, certified guest speakers, demonstrations and field trips. At the end of the course, students have the option to become a certified master gardener by completing a few additional requirements. Class size is limited. Network QC Luncheon: Noon-1:15 p.m. Sept. 13, Queen Creek Branch Library, Zane Grey Room, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road in Queen Creek. Monthly membership meeting presented by the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with other members and present a 30-second verbal commercial to the group. Citizen Leadership Institute Classes Begin: Presented by the town of Queen Creek, the CLI consists of 10 sessions through May 9 where participants learn about local issues and how the local government works. The topics covered include local government, planning and zoning, economic development, transportation, public works, parks and recreation, education, public safety, municipal budgeting and leadership roles for citizens.
