MCSO deputy struck by truck Jan. 9 in Queen Creek discharged from hospital

Deputy Armando Gomez, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputy struck on Jan. 9 while investigating a crash in Queen Creek, was discharged from the hospital and is home on the path to recovery, MCSO said.

Deputy Gomez is 54 years old and is a 10-year veteran of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, according to a release.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. Jan. 9, he was investigating a traffic accident on Chandler Heights Road just east of 188th Street in Queen Creek when he was struck by a 2015 Ford F250, officials said.

The deputy was transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center for multiple, potentially life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

The driver was not cited and he was not arrested, according to the release.
