Deputies from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will have an increased presence today, Jan. 7, at Queen Creek Middle School after a threatening note was found on campus Jan. 6.

The following note from Queen Creek Middle School Administrator Beverly Nichols was posted Jan. 6 on the school’s Facebook page:

“Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,

This letter is to inform you that the superintendent’s office is currently working with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on a possible threat that was revealed after staff discovered a threatening note toward the end of the school day located in a classroom at Queen Creek Middle School.

At this point, MCSO does not have any reason to believe this is a credible threat or dangerous situation.

However, MCSO and QCUSD is taking every precaution and will be increasing their presence at the school tomorrow to ensure a smooth school day of operation.

Please discuss with your child the importance of reporting any threatening behavior against any other student or individual. In this way, we are all working together to keep our students and schools safe.

Our school is committed to the safety and education of all our students. The intent of this notification is not to alarm you but to clearly communicate with our parents about safety issues when they arise.

Please contact us directly if you have questions or concerns.”

The content of the letter has not been released.

Queen Creek Middle School is at 20435 S. Old Ellsworth Road. It is part of the Queen Creek Unified School District.
