The Queen Creek Boys and Girls Club Teen Center is sporting a fresh new look.

Community members Lianna and Brandon Crosby gathered money, supplies and volunteers to renovate the teen center, 22557 S. Ellsworth Road. Through collaboration and hard work, the gathering spot was transformed into an inviting space where the teens can visit. In addition to creating a social space for the teens, the group also provided a holiday party for the teens along with gift cards.

Rhema Soul, Uncle Bear’s and Kneaders provided food for the holiday party, which was held in December, while residents in Hastings Farms provided the gift cards, cups, games and supplies. Residents Cristen Winsor, Heather Hopkins, Jessica LaVelle, Lesley Watson, Laura Thornburg, RaeAnn Jones, Nancy Desmarais, Brooke Quickel, Kathy Simon, Christina Gilbert, Jane Duffey and the Miller family also provided financial assistance for the remodel of the teen center, according to a press release.

Russ’ True Value provided the paint, Lowes provided shelving and Selections Shutters and Blinds provided the blinds while Carpeturn.com provided flooring at a discounted rate, according to the release. The Huitink, Wright, Lorg, Heun and Starks families donated money to pay for the flooring.

“This was a wonderful community effort,” stated Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney. “We appreciate the Crosbys’ coordinating this impressive effort and everyone who helped make it possible. The sense of community is truly what makes Queen Creek a wonderful place.”
