Queen Creek council 2-day strategic planning session at Courtyard by Marriott in Mesa

The Queen Creek Town Council is holding strategic planning discussions March 1-2 open to the public at the Courtyard by Marriott Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport hotel, 6907 E. Ray Road in Mesa.

The town’s corporate strategic plan is a goal-setting document that is reviewed annually and updated as directed by the council, according to town documents.

It starts with a 3-5 p.m. Friday tour of Arizona Laboratories for Security and Defense Research, 6030 S. Kent St., according to the agenda.

That is followed by a 5:30 p.m. dinner at the hotel’s conference room; a 6 p.m. corporate strategic plan review, progress and discussion; 7 p.m. discussion on the planning and building permit processes; 8 p.m. review of Saturday’s agenda; and adjourning at 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 2, includes:

  • 7:30 a.m. breakfast at the hotel’s conference room.
  • 8 a.m., 2019 budget review, orientation and policy discussion items, such as property tax, use of Central Arizona Groundwater Replenishment District credits, wastewater rates, use of reserves and transportation improvement plan.
  • 10:15-10:30 a.m. break.
  • 10:30 a.m., law enforcement services review and study.
  • 12:15 p.m., lunch at hotel conference room
  • 1 p.m., council agenda format review and civil discourse discussion.
  • 2:15-2:30 p.m. break
  • 2:30 p.m., discussion on council members’ availability, schedules and protocols for coordination with staff.
  • 3:15 p.m., wrap-up and review of the action plan.
  • 4 p.m., adjourn.
