Queen Creek Relay for Life kick-off event is July 11

Relay for Life Queen Creek will host two events this summer as it leads up to its main event Saturday, Sept. 26, at Queen Creek High School, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road. All events are open to the public.

The relay committee will kick off its fundraising season at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Barney Family Sports Complex, 22050 E. Queen Creek Road in Queen Creek, according to event planner Tina Parkinson.

Next, the committee will host Paint the Town Purple starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at Paradise Bakery, 21202 S. Ellsworth Loop Road, No. 100 in Queen Creek Marketplace. Purple is the color associated with the Relay for Life event.

Relay for Life is an event where participants can honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer, according to the American Cancer Society website. Money raised during Relay for Life events benefits the cancer society.
