September is ‘Kinship Care Month’ in Queen Creek

Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney has signed a proclamation declaring the month of September as Kinship Care Month in the town of Queen Creek. The proclamation is in recognition and support of grandparents raising their grandchildren and other kinship families.

Mayor Barney joined the Arizona Grandparent Ambassadors and other Arizona cities and towns in appreciation of the hard work and commitment of kinship caregivers. Kinship caregivers ensure that children enjoy a safe environment with opportunities to succeed.

As a result, children in kinship care are able to stay out of the foster case system, which saves Arizona money and helps keep families together, according to a press release.
