Town budget earns national recognition

The town of Queen Creek has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2013-14 budget.

The award represents a significant achievement as it reflects the town’s commitment to meeting the highest principals of governmental budgeting, according to a press release. To earn the award, the town had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

GOFA cited the town’s budget document as an excellent policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication device. In a letter to the town’s budget office, the GFOA recognized the town’s financial department as a benchmark example for other governments throughout North America, according to the release.

The GFOA is a nationwide professional association of more that 18,000 appointed and elected officials that offers education and services to enhance the performance of those responsible for government finance.
