UPDATED: Queen Creek school district to honor military veterans Nov. 10

Several schools in the Queen Creek Unified School District will hold programs Nov. 10 to honor military veterans as part of their Veterans Day recognition. The public is invited to attend.

The schools will be closed on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.

The schedule is:

7 a.m. Nov. 10: Wall of Honor ceremony, Newell Barney Middle School, 24937 S. Sossaman Road in Queen Creek, 480-474-6700. Last year students recognized more than 240 veterans. Along with the Wall of Honor, attending the event will be two Queen Creek families who lost loved ones in wars. Also expected to participate will be men and women in uniform, the school band and several VIPs.

8:30 a.m. Nov. 10: Band performance, Gateway Polytechnic Academy, 5149 S. Signal Butte in Mesa, 480-987-7440.

8:30 a.m. Nov. 10: Musical performance, Frances Brandon Pickett Elementary, 22076 E. Village Loop in Queen Creek, 480-987-7420.

9 a.m. Nov. 10: Assembly, Queen Creek Elementary, 23636 S. 204th St. in Queen Creek, 480-987-5920.

5:30-6:45 p.m. Nov. 10: Banquet; Queen Creek Middle School, 20435 S. Old Ellsworth Road in Queen Creek,  480-987-5940; and Queen Creek High School, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road in Queen Creek, 480-987-5973.
