The American Legion Auxiliary ladies of Apache Unit 27 are sending boxes off to the troops overseas with toiletries and food items requested by the troops.
Along with these items we have included 300 little booklets that were distributed to three area schools for the children to express their thank you for serving. They have written notes and drawn pictures. We want to acknowledge these schools and their teachers.
Thank you, Brinton Elementary in Mesa and third-grade teachers Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Busby. Thank you, Meridian Elementary in Mesa where librarian Debbie Gifford arranged for the following teachers to have their students do this during library time: Mrs. Chastain, Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Erickson, Mr. Petrie, Mrs. Giltner and Mr. McCormick. Also thank you to Superstition Mountain Elementary in Apache Junction and first-grade teacher Dorothy Sliva, fourth-grade teacher Renee Abbott, fifth-grade teacher Brian Lockwood and sixth-grade teacher Elaine Fugate.
We know the troops appreciate all these things from word coming back to us.
