Drew Morrison, 30, of San Tan Valley has been arrested by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend, according to a PCSO press release.

According to the release, PCSO deputies were called June 4 to a local hospital to talk to a 48-year-old woman who alleged she had been physically assaulted, sexually assaulted and held hostage for two days by her ex-boyfriend.

The woman identified her ex-boyfriend as Mr. Morrison. She told deputies the suspect had called her May 31 and asked her to come to his apartment in the 2300 block of Magma Road because of a bed bug infestation. Deputies said the woman claimed after they cleaned the apartment, she agreed to spend the night. She alleged the suspect was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

The woman attempted to leave the apartment on June 3 but the suspect refused to allow her to leave, Sheriff Paul Babeu said in the release. Sheriff Babeu said the woman alleged the suspect repeatedly assaulted her physically and then sexually assaulted her. The woman said she escaped while the suspect was distracted, Sheriff Babeu said.

After obtaining a search warrant, the deputies went to the suspect’s apartment and took him into custody, according to the release. Deputies said they collected evidence to support the victim’s claims, according to the release.

Mr. Morrison was charged on one count each of kidnapping, sexual assault and aggravated assault and booked into the Pinal County Sheriff’s Jail in Florence.
