Fall hours in effect at arboretum, plant sale scheduled for Oct. 17

Boyce Thompson Arboretum, 37615 U.S. Highway 60 in Superior, has October events ranging from weekend bird walks to a rollicking concert of Americana from Valley-based Trio Rio. Daily hours for the fall-winter schedule are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Most public events are included with daily admission of $10. Check the website or connect on Facebook for specific details.

Arboretum annual members are invited to a preview of special plants in stock that will take place Friday, Oct. 16, one day before BTA’s big seasonal sale opens to the public on Oct. 17. The sale will continue through Nov. 1.

Trails and gardens are open to all visitors every day of the fall plant sale but the members-only preview shopping day on Oct. 16 reserves the selection of new and choice plants for members-only shopping.

October events include:

•Guided Bird Walks: 8:30 a.m. Oct. 3, 11, 17, 25 and 31
•Hot Plants for Cool Spaces Master Gardener presentation: 11 a.m. Oct. 3
•Sunday Arboretum History Walk: 10 a.m. Oct. 4
•Trio Rio Concert “Americana’ in the Garden: 12:30-2 p.m. Oct. 10
•Plants of the Bible Land Guided Walk: 1:30 p.m. Oct. 17
•LightRoom 5 Users Group: 10 a.m. Oct. 18
•Tree Tour: 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18
