‘Queen Creek 5’ races to take place March 19

The town of Queen Creek will introduce a new event to kick off its Spring Into QC event March 19.

The QC5 — a 5-mile, 5K and half-mile race — the QC5 will be held at Desert Mountain Park, 22201 S. Hawes Road, before Spring into QC.

Each race is an out and back on the Queen Creek Wash trail, heading west from Desert Mountain Park.

After the race, participants and the public can stick around for the Spring into QC festivities happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., also at Desert Mountain Park.

The fun-filled family event includes an egg hunt, color splash, food and shopping.

The race times are: 7 a.m. for the  5-mile, 8 a.m. for the 5K and 9 a.m. for the half-mile kids run.

The entry fees are: $45 for the 5-mile, $40 for the 5K and $20 for the half-mile kids run.

Register for the QC5 online or in person during the race expo and packet pickup that takes place 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 18 Desert Mountain Park.

Race proceeds will benefit Shun the Sun Foundation for skin cancer prevention.
