The girls cross country team from Queen Creek High School earned a gold medal Sept. 7 at the Payson Multi-Invitational Cross Country Meet.
The competition took place at the Payson Golf Course, 1504 W. Country Club Drive.
The girls team had a score of 41, beating Thatcher, with a score of 101, and Chino Valley, with 115, according to the website http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=119084.
The boy’s team finished third.
Runners of the meet were Keola Hansen for the girls and Zach Gomez for the boys. Alexus Navarro won the meet individually with a time of 20:44.47, beating the second place girl by more than 2 minutes.
Other girls who medaled were: Maddy Ambrosio, Taylor Cotter, Keola Hansen, Molly Hillarides, Shayna Hyman and Kelton Little. The boys who medaled were: Denton Hardt, Bryson Schall and Tristen Stellmach.
