Maricopa County seeks applicants to Commission on Trial Court Appointments

Maricopa County Supervisor Denny Barney’s Trial Court Commission Nominating Committee for Supervisorial District 1 is seeking non-attorney applicants for membership on the Maricopa County Commission on Trial Court Appointments.

Applications are being accepted through Jan. 15.

The commission is responsible for the nomination of Maricopa County superior court judges. Commission members conduct investigations, hold public hearings and take public testimony regarding superior court judicial applicants, according to a press release.

Applicants for the commission must meet the following constitutional requirements:

•Arizona resident for at least five years

•Resident of Supervisorial District 1 for at least one year. District 1 includes areas of Ahwatukee, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, and Queen Creek. (District locator)

•Cannot be a judge, retired judge, or a practicing lawyer

•Cannot hold any governmental office, elected or appointed, for profit

•Can be a governmental employee
