Five members reappointed to Queen Creek Transportation Advisory Committee

Sorensen, Lema and Denton appointed to Queen Creek transportation committee

The Queen Creek Town Council on March 2 appointed Tyler Sorensen, Stephanie Lema and Susan Denton to the town of Queen Creek Transportation Advisory Committee. While appointments are two year terms, Mr. Sorensen and Ms. Lema are replacing vacant seats with a term that expires on Aug. 31, 2016, and Ms. Denton is replacing a vacant seat that expires Aug. 31, 2017.

Mr. Sorensen is an attorney who is interested in getting more involved with the community and lending his experience to help guide the town, according to a press release. Ms. Lema is a graduate of the town’s Citizen Leadership Institute and is interested in contributing her time and experience to the town. Ms. Denton also is a CLI graduate and a previous Queen Creek Planning and Zoning Commission member.

“The town council and I appreciate our residents serving on our commission and boards,” Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney said in the release. “It is important to have representatives from the community helping to guide the future growth of the town.”

Ficker, Naqvi appointed to Queen Creek Transportation Advisory Committee

John Ficker and Ali Naqvi have been appointed to the Queen Creek Transportation Advisory Committee by the Queen Creek Town Council during its March 16 Council meeting. While appointments are two-year terms, the men will each serve terms expiring on Aug. 31, 2017, to coincide with other committee appointments, according to a press release.

Mr. Ficker worked in the transportation field at the state and federal level. He serves on the Gilbert Rotary Club and as the past president of the National Industrial Transportation League.

Mr. Naqvi recently retired and wants to apply his experience with planning and budgeting to benefit the town, according to the release.

The purpose of the TAC is to review the town’s transportation planning efforts (including the Capital Improvement Program) and to serve as ambassadors to residents on all things related to transportation.
